Listening, Leading, Transforming: A Community Voice in National Policing Development (October 2025)
Being invited to contribute to the inaugural Police Race Action Plan Conference ~ an initiative jointly led by the College of Policing and the National Police Chiefs' Council ~ was both a privilege and a responsibility. It marked a significant moment in the national conversation around race, policing and trust, providing a rare opportunity to help shape the future of policing from a place of a panel full of lived experience, community insight and collaborative vision.
It was important to have a seat at the table and a voice in the room it was important to be involved in the conversations to change policy to practice and make the plan real.
The essence of this conference was to hold complexity while cultivating hope providing a space to both critique and celebrate to curate conditions for real, lasting change.
This is just the beginning. The real work lies ahead. If we stay rooted in relationship and grounded in truth, and open to transformation, the hope will be to build a policing culture that truly serves and protects all.
